Fra Angelico
Fra Angelico’s paintings for the monks’ cells of San Marco in Florence are among the most intimate masterpieces of the Early Renaissance. Painted in the 1430s and 1440s, these sacred images were made to accompany Dominican friars in prayer and meditation, bringing scenes from the life of Christ directly into their daily lives within the monastery.
